Per family in Europe - this week's Ankara Bombings were carried out by self-described leftist groups of residual socialist/communist groups formed in Iran/Turkey/Syria and Iraq in Fall and Winter of 1920 after the Congress of the People of the East - a conference called for by the 2nd International held in the Summer of 1920. This People's Congress was held in the City of Baku (Baki) on the Caspian Sea. The members of today's groups are mainly Turk, Armenian, Kurd and Iranian/Persian - with a few Iraqis - and are reported to be in-league with each other.

The Ankara Bombings are part of seven such attacks with only the Ankara attack being reported in the West.

Interestingly, the Russian cruise missles recently used to attack positions in Syria were fired from ships in the Caspian Sea just off the coast of Baku and flew over Iran and Iraq. Also interesting - Turkey is in NATO.

Maybe the times are not a-changing!

This bombing is pretty well tied to the PKK, now, and to quite a few other recent bombings in the region.
